97.16952 Has NAFTA been good for Canada
The North American Free Trade Agreement [NAFTA] signed into law in 1993 between the United States, Canada and Mexico has had limited benefits for the Canadian economy. The new law authorized for a free trade zone between the three North American countries. Many Canadians do not believe that NAFTA has provided some of the benefits Politicians promised; in fact Canada has lost some jobs to Mexico. While Canadian exports to the United States have increased under NAFTA, the Canadian dollar has plummeted in kind, making such increases in Canadian foreign trade less meaningful. This paper explored these and other areas where many Canadians hold concerns over NAFTA partnership. Data and other statistics were used to support the thesis stated here. [12 Pages, 10 Sources]

98.21520 Canada and Foreign Trade
It is most certainly true that at the beginning of the 21st century ? as indeed it has been true for hundreds of years ? that international trade plays an important part in the economy of most countries. As countries like Canada have become increasingly industrialized, foreign trade has become increasingly important to their economies. However, while international trade is generally to be considered to be a beneficial attribute of a nation?s economy, at least one of Canada?s export products has caused a considerable amount of political uproar: The trade across the border of prescription drugs into the United States. This paper examines the trade aspects (as opposed to the purely political aspects) of such this trade.
